Abstract
A capacitive voltage sensor assembly includes a first electrode extending along a longitudinal axis, a second electrode surrounding a portion of the first electrode and positioned radially outward from the longitudinal axis and the first electrode, the second electrode including a flexible tubular portion, and a mass of dielectric insulating material at least partially encapsulating the first electrode and the second electrode. The flexible tubular portion is configured to move during solidification of the mass of dielectric resin, and the mass of dielectric resin fills through openings formed in the second electrode and forms a unitary insulating carrier structure for the first electrode and the second electrode.

A capacitive voltage sensor assembly comprising:
- a first electrode extending along a longitudinal axis;
- a second electrode surrounding a portion of the first electrode and positioned radially outward from the longitudinal axis and the first electrode, the second electrode including a flexible tubular portion;
- and
- a mass of dielectric insulating material at least partially encapsulating the first electrode and the second electrode, wherein the flexible tubular portion is configured to move during solidification of the mass of dielectric resin, and wherein the mass of dielectric resin fills through openings formed in the second electrode and forms a unitary insulating carrier structure for the first electrode and the second electrode.
A capacitive voltage sensor assembly comprising:
- a first electrode extending along a longitudinal axis;
- a second electrode surrounding a portion of the first electrode, the second electrode including a tubular portion, wherein the tubular portion includes an insulating layer, an inner conductive layer disposed on an inner side of the insulating layer, and an outer conductive layer disposed on an outer side of the insulating layer;
- and
- a mass of dielectric insulating material at least partially encapsulating the first electrode and the second electrode, wherein the mass of dielectric insulating material fills through-openings formed in the second electrode and forms a unitary insulating carrier structure for the first electrode and the second electrode,
- wherein a first portion of the first electrode has a first diameter transverse to the longitudinal axis, and a second portion of the first electrode extends from the first portion in a direction along the longitudinal axis toward the tubular portion, wherein the second portion has a second diameter transverse to the longitudinal axis, and wherein the first diameter is greater than the second diameter.
A capacitive voltage sensor assembly comprising:
- an electrode extending along a longitudinal axis;
- a flexible tubular portion, wherein the flexible tubular portion includes an insulating layer, an inner conductive layer positioned radially inward of the insulating layer in a direction toward the longitudinal axis, and an outer conductive layer positioned radially outward of the insulating layer in a direction away from the longitudinal axis;
- and
- a mass of dielectric insulating resin at least partially encapsulating the first electrode and the flexible tubular portion, wherein the mass of dielectric resin fills a first plurality of through openings formed in the insulating layer, the inner conductive layer, and the outer conductive layer.
The capacitive voltage sensor assembly of clam 14, wherein the insulating layer is a self-supporting structure.
