Abstract
Metal work rolls that contact a functional fluid during movement of a rotatable body are described. The rotatable body can include a coated surface with a surface coating. The surface coating can include a metal or metal alloy such as, for example, a molybdenum alloy or a nickel alloy or a tungsten alloy. Systems and processes using the coated work rolls are also described.
Claims21
A roller comprising a cylindrical substrate configured to rotate about an axis, wherein the cylindrical substrate comprises an outer surface configured to contact another material during rotation of the cylindrical substrate, wherein at least a portion of a surface of the cylindrical substrate is a coated surface, wherein the coated surface comprises a surface coating, and wherein the surface coating comprises an alloy layer comprising (i) molybdenum and (ii) at least one element selected from the group consisting of nickel, tungsten, cobalt, chromium, tin, phosphorous, iron, magnesium and boron or at least one compound comprising one or more of nickel, tungsten, cobalt, chromium, tin, phosphorous, iron, magnesium or boron.
