Abstract

Provided is a coil capable of smoothing the current density in a coil used in a contactless power transmission system, improving the freedom with which the coil can be positioned, improving the efficiency with which a winding wire material is used, and suppressing the generation of heat by the coil. A coil CL1-1 which is obtained by winding a winding wire and is to be used in the transmission or receipt of power during contactless power transmission, wherein the cross-sectional area of the winding wire increases from the outermost peripheral end section of the coil CL1-1 toward the innermost peripheral end section thereof.
