Method of Attaching Molding, Trip, or Panels to Structures

A panel mounting system for mounting building materials to a vertical building surface, comprising:

• a gable rail fixed with a vertical building surface and projecting outwardly therefrom, the gable rail comprising a J-shaped portion at a distal end thereof;
• a plurality of building panels each having a front surface, a rear surface, a top edge, a bottom edge, a left edge, and a right edge, each building panel having a gable rail-receiving slot formed in the back surface parallel to the bottom edge of thereof, whereby each building panel is held to the vertical building surface when the gable rail-receiving slot receives therein the gable rail.

A panel mounting system for mounting building materials to a vertical building surface, comprising:

• a gable rail fixed with a vertical building surface and projecting outwardly therefrom, the gable rail comprising a cross-sectional shape defining a generally vertical nailing flange adapted to be secured to the vertical building surface, a generally horizontal extension extending from the generally vertical nailing flange, and a J-shaped portion at a distal end of the generally horizontal extension so as to be opposite the generally vertical nailing flange;
• a plurality of building panels each having a front surface, a rear surface, a top edge, a bottom edge, a left edge, and a right edge, each building panel having a gable rail-receiving slot formed in the back surface parallel to the bottom edge of thereof, the gable rail-receiving slot comprising a middle portion having a narrower height that is adapted to secure the J-shaped portion of the gable rail against withdrawal from the gable rail-receiving slot, whereby each building panel is held to the vertical building surface when the gable rail-receiving slot receives therein the gable rail.
