Abstract
Among other things, the present disclosure provides biosynthesis polypeptides, methods, and non-naturally occurring microbial organisms for preparing various compounds such as 1,5-pentanediol, adipic acid, 1,6-hexanediol, 6-hydroxy hexanoic acid, and 2-keto carboxylic acids.

- contacting pyruvate and HO—CH2—CH2—CHO with a polypeptide having the sequence of SEQ ID NO:
- 8 so that HO—CH2—CH2—CH═CH—C(O)—COOH or a salt thereof is produced.

- contacting pyruvate and HO—CH2—CH2—CHO with a polypeptide having the sequence of SEQ ID NO:
- 10 so that (E)-HO—CH2—CH2—CH═CH—C(O)—COOH or a salt thereof is produced.
A method, comprising:
- contacting pyruvate and HO—CH2—CH2—CHO with a polypeptide having the sequence of SEQ ID NO:
- 21 so that (E)-HO—CH2—CH2—CH═CH—C(O)—COOH or a salt thereof is produced.
A method, comprising:
- contacting pyruvate and HO—CH2—CH2—CHO with a polypeptide having the sequence of SEQ ID NO:
- 27 so that (E)-HO—CH2—CH2—CH═CH—C(O)—COOH or a salt thereof is produced.
