Abstract
A method for emulating a disc swap operation during a play of a legacy game is described. The method includes receiving a user input during the play of the legacy game, determining that the disc swap operation is to be executed based on the user input, and identifying one or more emulated processing unit (PU) code instructions that are included within the disc swap operation during the play of the legacy game. The method further includes compiling, during the play of the legacy game, one or more basic blocks from the one or more emulated PU code instructions, and emulating the disc swap operation. The operation of emulating the disc swap operation includes executing a swap patch emulator.
Claims20
A method for emulating a disc swap operation during a play of a legacy game, comprising:
- receiving a user input during the play of the legacy game;
- determining that the disc swap operation is to be executed based on the user input;
- identifying one or more emulated processing unit (PU) code instructions that are included within the disc swap operation during the play of the legacy game;
- compiling, during the play of the legacy game, one or more basic blocks from the one or more emulated PU code instructions;
- and
- emulating the disc swap operation, wherein said emulating the disc swap operation includes executing a swap patch emulator.
A method for removing a bug during a play of a legacy game, comprising:
- receiving a user input;
- identifying one or more emulated processing unit (PU) code instructions of the legacy game for servicing the user input;
- compiling one or more basic blocks from the one or more emulated PU code instructions;
- determining whether a debugger patch is to be executed instead of the one or more basic blocks;
- and
- executing the debugger patch upon determining that the debugger patch is to be executed instead of the one or more basic blocks.
A method for applying a trophy hook patch during a play of a legacy game, comprising:
- receiving a first user input;
- identifying one or more emulated processing unit (PU) code instructions based on the first user input, wherein the one or more emulated PU code instructions facilitate a play of a level of the legacy game;
- compiling one or more basic blocks based on the one or more emulated PU code instructions;
- executing the one or more basic blocks for a first time;
- receiving a second user input;
- determining that execution of the one or more basic blocks is to be repeated based on the second user input;
- determining that a number of times for which the one or more basic blocks are to be executed exceeds a pre-determined threshold;
- executing the one or more basic blocks for a second time;
- and
- providing a trophy to a user account when it is determined that the number of times for which the one or more basic blocks are to be executed exceeds the pre-determined threshold.
