Abstract
An lead-acid battery is described. The battery includes a carbon fiber electrode having a paste containing a novel additive including one or more carbons, organic expanders, and barium sulfate.

An electrode comprising a carbonized fiber current collector having a paste with an additive that improves charge acceptance, wherein the additive includes one of either ultrafine barium sulfate or carbon and barium hydroxide.
A lead-acid battery with a carbon fiber current collector having an electrochemically active material with one or more additives.
