Abstract
An aggregate spreading device includes a hopper, a conveyor system disposed below the hopper, and a spreader system extending from at least one side of the aggregate spreading device and configured to receive aggregate from the conveyor system. The spreader system includes a vertical support coupled to a frame of the aggregate spreading device, a first wall extending from a first end attached to the vertical support, and a second wall extending from a second end of the first wall. A lift actuator is configured to adjust the vertical placement of the spreader system and causing the first and second walls to move vertically.
Claims20
An aggregate spreading device configured to be reversibly attached to a host machine, the aggregate spreading device comprising:
- a support frame comprising a first end and a second end;
- a hopper disposed on the first end of the support frame;
- a conveyor system disposed below the hopper;
- a first spreader system configured to distribute aggregate received from the conveyor system;
- a first lift actuator comprising a first vertical support coupled to the first spreader system and to the support frame at a first distal end of the hopper, the first lift actuator configured to raise and lower the first spreader system;
- a first position actuator coupled to the first spreader system and to the support frame at a location between the first end and the second end, the first position actuator configured to transition the first spreader system between a storage position and a deployed position;
- and
- a first slope actuator coupled to the first spreader system and to the first vertical support, the first slope actuator configured to adjust a first angle of the first spreader system relative to a grade line of ground over which the aggregate spreading device is configured to travel.
A method of spreading aggregate, comprising:
- attaching an aggregate spreading device to a host machine, the aggregate spreading device comprising a support frame having a first end and a second end, a hopper disposed on the first end of the support frame, a conveyor system disposed below the hopper, and a spreader system;
- actuating the spreader system from a storage position to a deployed position;
- adjusting a vertical position and a slope of the spreader system relative to a grade line;
- pushing the aggregate spreading device using the host machine;
- loading aggregate into the hopper of the aggregate spreading device;
- directing the aggregate onto the conveyor system;
- conveying the aggregate through an exit opening in a sidewall of the hopper to the spreader system;
- and
- distributing the aggregate using the spreader system.
