## Abstract

Aspects of the disclosure relate to a remote control which may include one or more buttons configured to provide input to the remote control upon being activated, a transmitter for transmitting data, a receiver for receiving data, a processor and memory storing computer executable instructions that, when executed, cause the two-way remote control to perform a method for configuring repeat transmission behavior of one or more of the buttons of the two-way remote control. Further, the receiver may be configured to receive data from a device configured to be controlled by the remote control and the data may include instructions for configuring the repeat transmission behavior of the one or more buttons of the two-way remote control. Additionally, the two-way remote control may configure the repeat transmission behavior of the one or more buttons of the two-way remote control based on the data received from the device.

## Claims

### Claim 1

A method comprising:
receiving, by a computing device, a continuous user interface input;
determining whether the continuous user interface input relates to a first application running on a first device or a second application running on a second device, wherein the first application is distinct from the second application;
selecting, based on the determining, a rate of transmission comprising a first rate of transmission for the first application, or a second rate of transmission for the second application; and
causing one of the first application or the second application to perform a function at the selected rate of transmission.

### Claim 2 (depends on 1)

The method of claim 1, wherein the first rate of transmission is distinct from the second rate of transmission.

### Claim 3 (depends on 1)

The method of claim 1, wherein the first rate of transmission is selected from a single transmission or a repeated transmission.

### Claim 4 (depends on 3)

The method of claim 3, wherein the single transmission is selected for powering ON or OFF a media device.

### Claim 5 (depends on 3)

The method of claim 3, wherein the single transmission is selected for a program guide mode.

### Claim 6 (depends on 3)

The method of claim 3, wherein the repeated transmission is selected for controlling volume of a media device.

### Claim 7 (depends on 3)

The method of claim 3, wherein the repeated transmission is selected for changing a channel displayed on a media device.

### Claim 8 (depends on 3)

The method of claim 3, wherein the repeated transmission is capped at a predetermined number of transmissions over a period of time.

### Claim 9 (depends on 3)

The method of claim 3, wherein the repeated transmission is selected for transmitting signals to a gaming application.

### Claim 10 (depends on 9)

The method of claim 9, wherein a time gap between the repeated transmissions for the gaming application are shorter than a time gap between the repeated transmissions for a program guide operation.

### Claim 11

An apparatus, comprising:
one or more processors;
a plurality of input interfaces in communication with the one or more processors; and
memory storing processor executable instructions that, when executed by the one or more processors, cause the apparatus to:
receive a continuous user interface input;
determine whether the continuous user interface input relates to a first application running on a first device or a second application running on a second device, wherein the first application is distinct from the second application;
select, based on the determining, a rate of transmission comprising a first rate of transmission for the first application, or a second rate of transmission for the second application; and
cause one of the first application or the second application to perform a function at the selected rate of transmission.

### Claim 12 (depends on 11)

The apparatus of claim 11, wherein the first rate of transmission is distinct from the second rate of transmission.

### Claim 13 (depends on 11)

The apparatus of claim 11, wherein the first rate of transmission is selected from a single transmission or a repeated transmission.

### Claim 14 (depends on 13)

The apparatus of claim 13, wherein the processor executable instructions, that when executed by the one or more processors, cause the apparatus to select the single transmission for powering ON or OFF a media device.

### Claim 15 (depends on 13)

The apparatus of claim 13, wherein the processor executable instructions, that when executed by the one or more processors, cause the apparatus to select the single transmission for a program guide mode.

### Claim 16 (depends on 13)

The apparatus of claim 13, wherein the processor executable instructions, that when executed by the one or more processors, cause the apparatus to select the repeated transmission for controlling volume of a media device.

### Claim 17 (depends on 13)

The apparatus of claim 13, wherein the processor executable instructions, that when executed by the one or more processors, cause the apparatus to select the repeated transmission for changing a channel displayed on a media device.

### Claim 18 (depends on 13)

The apparatus of claim 13, wherein the repeated transmission is capped at a predetermined number of transmissions over a period of time.

### Claim 19 (depends on 13)

The apparatus of claim 13, wherein the processor executable instructions, that when executed by the one or more processors, cause the apparatus to select the repeated transmission for transmitting signals to a gaming application.

### Claim 20 (depends on 19)

The apparatus of claim 19, wherein a time gap between the repeated transmissions for the gaming application are shorter than a time gap between the repeated transmissions for a program guide operation.
