Techniques for mass spectrometry peak list computation using parallel processing

A method comprising:

• retrieving, from a memory, one or more spectra produced as a result of mass analyzing a sample;
• performing peak detection to identify one or more peaks in the one or more spectra;
• generating one or more peak properties on the one or more peaks;
• and
• writing the one or more peaks into a peak list in a memory and writing the peak properties information to the memory,
• wherein the retrieving and writing are configured to be performed by code executing in a serial processor and wherein the performing peak detection and generating one or more peak properties are configured to be performed by code executing in a parallel processor.

A non-transitory computer-readable storage medium, the computer-readable storage medium including instructions that when executed by a computer, cause the computer to:

• retrieve, from a memory, one or more spectra produced as a result of mass analyzing a sample;
• perform peak detection to identify one or more peaks in the one or more spectra;
• generate one or more peak properties on the one or more peaks;
• and
• write the one or more peaks into a peak list in a memory and writing the peak properties information to the memory,
• wherein the retrieving and write are configured to be performed by code executing in a serial processor and wherein the performing peak detection and generating one or more peak properties are configured to be performed by code executing in a parallel processor.

A computing apparatus comprising:

• a processor;
• and
• a memory storing instructions that, when executed by the processor, configure the apparatus to:
• retrieve, from a memory, one or more spectra produced as a result of mass analyzing a sample;
• perform peak detection to identify one or more peaks in the one or more spectra;
• generate one or more peak properties on the one or more peaks;
• and
• write the one or more peaks into a peak list in a memory and writing the peak properties information to the memory,
• wherein the retrieving and write are configured to be performed by code executing in a serial processor and wherein the performing peak detection and generating one or more peak properties are configured to be performed by code executing in a parallel processor.
