Abstract
Bag-in-container with a coating layer The invention is in the field of containers for foods and drinks. There is provided a method for applying a coating layer (10, 14, 2, 4) on a preform (1, 2, 7) for a bag-in-container using plasma deposition. There is also provided a preform (1, 2, 7) for a bag-in-container, comprising an inner preform (8) and an outer preform (9) with facing surfaces, wherein at least one of the facing surfaces comprises a coating layer (10, 14, 2, 4) that is applied using plasma deposition.

Method for applying a coating layer on a preform for a bag-in-container, which preform comprises an inner preform and an outer preform with facing surfaces, which method comprises the steps of:
- a) providing a low-energy, cold plasma;
- b) exposing coating precursors and the preform to said plasma, thereby chemically activating the precursors, the preform, or both;
- c) depositing a coating layer on the preform by reaction of the activated precursors with each other and/or with the activated preform;
- wherein the coating layer is applied on at least a part of at least one of the facing surfaces.
Use of plasma deposition using a low energy, cold plasma for the production of a bag-in-container, said bag-in-container comprising an in inner container and an outer container with facing surfaces, wherein at least one of the facing surfaces is coated at least in part with a coating layer.
