- (a) receiving a segmented sample collection material, the segmented sample collection material comprising two or more individual sample collection materials separable from one another, wherein the two or more individual sample collection materials each comprise a sample collection area and an identification portion, wherein the identification portion is spaced apart from the sample collection area;
- (b) separating the two or more individual sample collection materials from one another;
- (c) extracting dried rodent blood from the sample collection area of each of the two or more individual sample collection materials, wherein the dried rodent blood is from one or more members of a population of rodents;
- (d) conducting an immunoassay for analyzing the extracted blood for a presence or absence of at least one antibody for an infectious agent indicative of an infectious disease, thereby determining the presence or absence of the infectious disease in the rodent population;
- and
- (e) reporting results of the presence or absence of the infectious disease.
