Abstract
A corrosion resistant wheel including a body having an outer surface and an inner surface, and a mounting plate having a front surface and a rear surface, wherein the body is adapted for securement to a vehicle and/or trailer, a primary anticorrosion layer associated with at least one of the inner and outer surfaces of the wheel body and/or at least one of the front and rear surfaces of the mounting plate, an optional secondary layer associated with the primary anticorrosion layer, and a tertiary layer associated with the secondary layer.

A method for manufacturing a corrosion resistant wheel adapted for securement to a vehicle and/or trailer, comprising the steps of:
- providing a wheel body having an outer surface and an inner surface, and a mounting plate having a front surface and a rear surface;
- at least one of mechanically abrading and chemically etching at least one of the inner surface of the wheel body, the outer surface of the wheel body, the front surface of the mounting plate, and the rear surface of the mounting plate;
- applying a primary anticorrosion composition to at least one of the inner surface of the wheel body, the outer surface of the wheel body, the front surface of the mounting plate, and the rear surface of the mounting plate, wherein the primary anticorrosion composition comprises:
- (a) at least one solvent;
- (b) at least one of H2Mg3(SiO3)4 and Mg3Si4O10(OH)2;
- (c) Zn3(PO4)2;
- (d) at least one of ZnO and chelated Zinc;
- and (e) an acrylate copolymer resin;
- and
- forming a primary anticorrosion layer onto the applied surface(s).
