## Abstract

To improve the cycle characteristics of a lithium ion battery, a mixture of a powder of a conversion-type oxide made of an iron oxide and/or a silicon oxide and causing a conversion reaction with Li ions and a powder of an oxygen ion conductor are used as a negative electrode material of the lithium ion battery.

## Claims

### Claim 1

A negative electrode material for a lithium ion battery, the negative electrode material comprising
a mixture of a powder of a conversion-type oxide and a powder of an oxygen ion conductor, the conversion-type oxide being made of an iron oxide and/or a silicon oxide and causing a conversion reaction with Li ions.

### Claim 2 (depends on 1)

The negative electrode material of claim 1, wherein
the conversion-type oxide is made of magnetite, and
the oxygen ion conductor is made of samarium-doped ceria and/or yttria-stabilized zirconium.

### Claim 3 (depends on 1)

The negative electrode material of claim 1, wherein
a proportion of the powder of the oxygen ion conductor in a total amount of the powder of the conversion-type oxide and the powder of the oxygen ion conductor is 3 mass % or more and 30 mass % or less.

### Claim 4 (depends on 2)

The negative electrode material of claim 2, wherein
a proportion of the powder of the oxygen ion conductor in a total amount of the powder of the conversion-type oxide and the powder of the oxygen ion conductor is 3 mass % or more and 30 mass % or less.

### Claim 5 (depends on 1)

The negative electrode material of claim 1, wherein
the oxygen ion conductor has an average particle size D50, with reference to volume, of 1 nm or more and 100 nm or less.

### Claim 6 (depends on 2)

The negative electrode material of claim 2, wherein
the oxygen ion conductor has an average particle size D50, with reference to volume, of 1 nm or more and 100 nm or less.

### Claim 7 (depends on 3)

The negative electrode material of claim 3, wherein
the oxygen ion conductor has an average particle size D50, with reference to volume, of 1 nm or more and 100 nm or less.

### Claim 8 (depends on 5)

The negative electrode material of claim 5, wherein
the conversion-type oxide is magnetite particles having an average particle size D50, with reference to volume, of 10 nm or more and 1000 nm or less.

### Claim 9 (depends on 6)

The negative electrode material of claim 6, wherein
the conversion-type oxide is magnetite particles having an average particle size D50, with reference to volume, of 10 nm or more and 1000 nm or less.

### Claim 10 (depends on 7)

The negative electrode material of claim 7, wherein
the conversion-type oxide is magnetite particles having an average particle size D50, with reference to volume, of 10 nm or more and 1000 nm or less.
