Abstract
Disclosed is a system for deterring criminal activity by providing a visual indication of active surveillance including a time server, a first client device having a first LED and an internal clock, the first client device configured to connect to the time server and synchronize its internal clock with the time server, a second client device having a first LED and an internal clock, the second client device configured to connect to the time server and synchronize its internal clock with the time server, wherein the first client device and the second client device are each configured to be selectively set to a “monitor mode” in which the respective first LEDs of the first client device and the second client device pulse in unison.
Claims21
A system for deterring criminal activity by providing a visual indication of active surveillance, the system comprising:
- a time server, the time server including a universal clock signal;
- a first client device having a first LED and an internal clock, the first client device configured to connect to the time server and synchronize its internal clock with the universal clock signal;
- a second client device having a first LED and an internal clock, the second client device configured to connect to the time server and synchronize its internal clock with the universal clock signal;
- and
- wherein the first client device and the second client device are each configured to be selectively set to a monitor mode, the monitor mode including flashing on and off a first LED according to a pulsing signal based on the internal clock, wherein the first LED of the first client device and of the second client device flash on at substantially the same time.
A system for deterring criminal activity by providing a visual indication of active surveillance, the system comprising:
- a first client device having a front-facing camera, a rear-facing camera, a beacon LED, an illumination LED, and an internal clock;
- wherein the first client device is configured to receive a synchronized time from a timer server, the synchronized time for synchronizing a plurality of internal clocks in a plurality of client devices,
- wherein the first client device is further configured to update the internal clock in accordance with the synchronized time;
- and
- wherein the first client device is configured to pulse the beacon LED in unison with the plurality of client devices in accordance with the internal clock and the plurality of internal clocks.
A system for deterring criminal activity by providing a visual indication of active surveillance, the system comprising:
- a time server configured to provide a synchronization time to a plurality of client devices for synchronizing a plurality of internal clocks, wherein each client device of the plurality of client devices includes an internal clock for controlling the pulsing of a beacon LED upon entering into a monitor mode;
- and
- a message server configured to receive a security event message from a first client device from the plurality of client devices, the security event message including a location of the first client device, and further configured to send a notification to a subset of the plurality of client devices upon receipt of the security event message, the subset of client devices determined based on a proximity to the location of the first client device,
- wherein the beacon LED in the plurality of client devices pulse at substantially the same time based on the internal clock of each client device.
A method for deterring criminal activity by providing a visual indication of active surveillance, the system comprising:
- synchronizing an internal clock of a first client device with a universal clock of a time server;
- synchronizing an internal clock of a second client device with the universal clock of the time server setting the first client device and the second client device to a “monitor mode”;
- and
- pulsing a first LED of the first client device in unison with a first LED of the second client device.
