Abstract
Disclosed are various embodiments for automated deployment of radio-based networks. In one embodiment, a request to provision a radio-based network for a customer by a provider according to a network plan is received via an application programming interface (API) of a cloud provider network. An arrangement of a plurality of cells for the customer is determined. Respective antennas and radio units for individual ones of the plurality of cells are preconfigured to implement the radio-based network before shipping the respective antennas and the radio units to the customer.
Claims20
A system, comprising:
- at least one computing device;
- and
- instructions executable in the at least one computing device, wherein when executed the instructions cause the at least one computing device to at least:
- receive a request to provision a radio-based network for a customer by a provider according to a network plan, the radio-based network including a radio access network and a core network;
- determine an arrangement of a plurality of cells in the radio access network for the customer;
- automatically reserve an allocation of frequency spectrum for the radio access network;
- cause a respective at least one antenna and a respective radio unit for individual ones of the plurality of cells to be preconfigured to implement the radio access network before shipping the respective at least one antenna and the respective radio unit to the customer;
- preconfigure a particular computing device to perform at least one first network function for the radio-based network at a site of the customer;
- allocate computing capacity in a cloud provider network to perform at least one second network function for the radio-based network;
- and
- activate the radio access network and the associated core network.
A method, comprising:
- receiving, via an application programming interface (API) of a cloud provider network by at least one computing device, a request to provision a radio-based network for a customer by a provider according to a network plan;
- determining, via the at least one computing device, an arrangement of a plurality of cells for the customer;
- and
- causing, via the at least one computing device, a respective at least one antenna and a respective radio unit for individual ones of the plurality of cells to be preconfigured to implement the radio-based network before shipping the respective at least one antenna and the respective radio unit to the customer.
A non-transitory computer-readable medium embodying a radio-based network management service executable in at least one computing device, wherein when executed the radio-based network management service causes the at least one computing device to at least:
- determine a modification for a radio-based network operated by a provider for a customer under a utility computing model, the modification being to a number of cells in the radio-based network, a latency criterion for the radio-based network, or a bandwidth for the radio-based network;
- and
- implement at least one action to modify the radio-based network.
