Abstract
Systems, methods, apparatus, and articles of manufacture to facilitate discovery and remote configuration of content for playback via a multimedia playback network are disclosed. An example method includes facilitating identification of multimedia content being played, the identification including at least one of a content identifier associated with the content and the content itself. An example method includes relaying at least one of the content identifier and the content to a playback system located remotely from a location of the multimedia content playback, at least one of the content identifier and the content remotely added for playback at the playback system.

A cloud-based computing system comprising:
- at least one network interface that is configured to communicatively couple, via at least one data network, the cloud-based computing system to at least a zone player and a controller;
- at least one processor;
- at least one tangible, non-transitory computer-readable medium;
- and
- program instructions stored on the at least one tangible, non-transitory computer-readable medium that are executable by the at least one processor such that the cloud-based computing system is configured to:
- store, on the at least one tangible, non-transitory computer-readable medium, identification information corresponding to the zone player;
- authenticate the controller for adding content to a remote playback queue that identifies content to be played back by the zone player, wherein the remote playback queue is stored in the tangible, non-transitory computer-readable medium of the cloud-based computing system;
- after authenticating the controller, add at least one content identifier to the remote playback queue;
- and
- transmit, using the stored identification information corresponding to the zone player, one or more messages that collectively cause the zone player to (i) obtain, from the cloud-based computing system, data identifying one or more content items that are in the remote playback queue at the cloud-based computing system, wherein the data identifying the one or more content items that are in the remote playback queue comprises the at least one content identifier, (ii) use the obtained data identifying one or more content items to retrieve at least one content item identified in the remote playback queue from a cloud-based content service separate from the cloud-based computing system, and (iii) play back the retrieved at least one content item.
Tangible, non-transitory computer-readable media comprising program instructions stored therein, wherein the program instructions, when executed by one or more processors, cause a cloud-based computing system to perform functions comprising:
- storing, on the at least one tangible, non-transitory computer-readable media, identification information corresponding to a zone player;
- for a controller associated with the zone player, authenticating the controller for adding content to a remote playback queue that identifies content to be played back by the zone player;
- adding at least one content identifier to the remote playback queue stored in the tangible, non-transitory computer-readable media;
- and
- causing the zone player to (i) obtain, from the cloud-based computing system, data identifying one or more content items that are in the remote playback queue at the cloud-based computing system, the data identifying the one or more content items that are in the remote playback queue comprising the at least one content identifier, (ii) use the obtained data to retrieve at least one content item identified in the remote playback queue from a cloud-based content service separate from the cloud-based computing system, and (iii) play back the retrieved at least one content item.
A system comprising a cloud-based server and a controller device associated with a zone player, wherein the cloud-based server comprises:
- at least one first network interface that is configured to communicatively couple, via at least one data network, the cloud-based server to at least (i) the controller device associated with the zone player and (ii) the zone player;
- at least one first processor;
- at least one first tangible, non-transitory computer-readable medium;
- and
- first program instructions stored on the at least one first tangible, non-transitory computer-readable medium that are executable by the at least one first processor such that the cloud-based server is configured to:
- store, on the at least one first tangible, non-transitory computer-readable medium, identification information corresponding to the zone player;
- authenticate the controller for adding content to a remote playback queue that identifies content to be played back by the zone player;
- adding at least one content identifier to the remote playback queue stored in the tangible, non-transitory computer-readable medium at the cloud-based server;
- and
- cause the zone player to (i) obtain, from the cloud-based server, data identifying one or more content items that are in the remote playback queue at the cloud-based server, the data identifying the one or more content items that are in the remote playback queue comprising the at least one content identifier, (ii) use the obtained data to retrieve at least one content item identified in the remote playback queue from a cloud-based content service separate from the cloud-based server, and (iii) play back the retrieved at least one content item.
A system comprising a cloud-based server and a zone player, wherein the cloud-based server comprises:
- at least one first network interface that is configured to communicatively couple, via at least one data network, the cloud-based server to at least (i) a controller device associated with the zone player and (ii) the zone player;
- at least one first processor;
- at least one first tangible, non-transitory computer-readable medium;
- and
- first program instructions stored on the at least one first tangible, non-transitory computer-readable medium that are executable by the at least one first processor such that the cloud-based server is configured to:
- store, on the at least one first tangible, non-transitory computer-readable medium, identification information corresponding to the zone player;
- authenticate the controller device for adding content to a remote playback queue that identifies content to be played back by the zone player;
- adding at least one content identifier to the remote playback queue stored in the tangible, non-transitory computer-readable medium at the cloud-based server;
- and
- cause the zone player to (i) obtain, from the cloud-based server, data identifying one or more content items that are in the remote playback queue at the cloud-based server, the data identifying the one or more content items that are in the remote playback queue comprising the at least one content identifier, (ii) use the obtained data to retrieve at least one content item identified in the remote playback queue from a cloud-based content service separate from the cloud-based server, and (iii) play back the retrieved at least one content item.
