Collision Handling of Reference Signals

An apparatus comprising:

• processing circuitry, the processing circuitry configured to cause a user equipment (UE) to:
• determine a collision of at least one Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) symbol of reserved resources corresponding to a control resource set (CORESET) occupying a subset of a plurality of OFDM symbols within a slot and at least a first symbol location associated with a demodulation reference signal (DM-RS) of a physical downlink shared channel (PDSCH);
• detect the DM-RS within the slot, a first front-loaded DM-RS symbol of the DM-RS starting at a symbol location that is shifted from the first symbol location to a symbol location immediately following the subset of symbols;
• and
• decode downlink data received via the PDSCH, the decoding based on the detected DM-RS.

A method, comprising:

• at a user equipment (UE):
• determining a collision of at least one Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) symbol of reserved resources corresponding to a control resource set (CORESET) occupying a subset of a plurality of OFDM symbols within a slot and at least a first symbol location associated with a demodulation reference signal (DM-RS) of a physical downlink shared channel (PDSCH);
• detecting the DM-RS within the slot, a first front-loaded DM-RS symbol of the DM-RS starting at a symbol location that is shifted from the first symbol location to a symbol location immediately following the subset of symbols;
• and
• decoding downlink data received via the PDSCH, the decoding based on the detected DM-RS.

A non-transitory computer readable medium comprising:

• program instructions, the program instructions configured to cause a base station to:
• configure a collision of at least one Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) symbol of reserved resources corresponding to a control resource set (CORESET) occupying a subset of a plurality of OFDM symbols within a slot and at least a first symbol location associated with a demodulation reference signal (DM-RS) of a physical downlink shared channel (PDSCH);
• transmit, to a user equipment (UE), the DM-RS within the slot, a first front-loaded DM-RS symbol of the DM-RS starting at a symbol location that is shifted from the first symbol location to a symbol location immediately following the subset of symbols;
• and
• transmit downlink data, to the UE via the PDSCH, wherein the DM-RS is useable to decode the downlink data.
