The invention relates to a process for preparing hard carbon-containing material with a specific surface area of 100 m2/g or less, comprising the utilisation of one or more animal-derived materials.

A process for preparing a hard carbon-containing material comprising the utilisation of one or more animal faeces-derived materials.
The process according to claim 6, wherein the hard carbon-containing material has a carbon-content of at least 90% by weight.
