Modular blood glucose control systems

A blood glucose control system configured to receive an encoded pump status signal and an encoded medicament delivery signal from a pump controller operatively coupled to an ambulatory medicament pump and to calculate a dose control signal for commanding administration of glucose control therapy to a subject via the ambulatory medicament pump, the blood glucose control system comprising:

• a data interface configured to receive:
• the encoded pump status signal from the pump controller, wherein the encoded pump status signal comprises data corresponding to an availability of the ambulatory medicament pump to deliver medicament to the subject;
• the encoded medicament delivery signal from the pump controller, wherein the encoded medicament delivery signal comprises data corresponding to an amount of medicament dosed to the subject;
• and
• a glucose level signal from a glucose sensor operatively coupled to the subject;
• a non-transitory memory configured to store specific computer-executable instructions;
• and
• a hardware processor in communication with the non-transitory memory and configured to execute the specific computer-executable instructions to at least:
• receive, via the data interface, the glucose level signal from the glucose sensor;
• decode the glucose level signal to obtain a glucose level of the subject and an indication of a glucose trend;
• calculate the dose control signal using a control algorithm configured to calculate regular correction boluses of glucose control agent in response to at least the glucose level of the subject;
• receive, via the data interface, the encoded pump status signal from the pump controller;
• select a pump controller decoding profile from a plurality of pump controller decoding profiles, wherein each of the plurality of pump controller decoding profiles corresponds to at least one of a plurality of pump controllers, wherein each pump controller decoding profile is configured to decode at least the encoded pump status signal and the encoded medicament delivery signal, and wherein the selected pump controller decoding profile corresponds to the pump controller operatively coupled to the ambulatory medicament pump;
• decode the encoded pump status signal and the encoded medicament delivery signal using the selected pump controller decoding profile;
• select a pump controller encoding profile from a plurality of pump controller encoding profiles, wherein the selected pump controller encoding profile corresponds to the pump controller operatively coupled to the ambulatory medicament pump, wherein the pump controller encoding profile is configured to encode at least the dose control signal;
• based on the encoded pump status signal, determine that the ambulatory medicament pump is available to deliver medicament to the subject and encode the dose control signal such that the pump controller can read the dose control signal;
• and
• transmit the encoded dose control signal to the pump controller of the ambulatory medicament pump, wherein the dose control signal commands the ambulatory medicament pump to administer glucose control therapy via infusion of the glucose control agent into the subject.

A blood glucose control system configured to receive an encoded pump controller signal from a pump controller operatively coupled to an ambulatory medicament pump and to route pass-through data not used in a calculation of a dose control signal to a target electronic device, the blood glucose control system comprising:

• a data interface configured to receive the encoded pump controller signal from the pump controller via a digital data connection and to receive a glucose level signal from a glucose sensor, the encoded pump controller signal comprising:
• an encoded medicament delivery signal corresponding to an amount of medicament dosed to a subject, and
• pass-through data comprising encoded pump controller alert data, wherein the pass-through data is not used in the calculation of the dose control signal;
• a non-transitory memory configured to store specific computer-executable instructions;
• and
• a hardware processor in communication with the non-transitory memory and configured to execute the specific computer-executable instructions to at least:
• receive, via the data interface, the encoded pump controller signal from the pump controller via the digital data connection and the glucose level signal from the glucose sensor;
• decode the encoded medicament delivery signal and the encoded pump controller alert data to obtain the amount of medicament dosed to the subject and the data not used in the calculation of the dose control signal;
• calculate the dose control signal using a control algorithm configured to calculate regular correction boluses of glucose control agent in response to at least the glucose level of the subject and the amount of medicament dosed to the subject;
• and
• route the data not used in the calculation of the dose control signal to the target electronic device.
