Abstract
A label information system recognizes a real world label object relating to or associated with an item such as a product and uses augmented, mixed and/or virtual reality to display information relating to the item on a smart device such as a smartphone or AR glasses.

A method of presenting label information to a user characterized by:
- enabling capture by a portable camera of an image of a label object having indicia disposed thereon;
- recognizing the indicia from the captured image;
- associating the recognized label object with a record in response to the recognizing;
- selecting a media item in response to the recognition and/or the associating;
- and
- superimposing a selected media item onto a display of the captured image or an image derived therefrom.
