Method and system for acquiring, tracking, and testing sample data

A system comprising:

• one or more known assets;
• a known asset database accessible by a sample collection application, the known asset database including known asset data associated with the one or more known assets;
• a sample collection application, access to the sample collection application being provided to one or more technicians, the sample collection application providing one or more user interfaces to the one or more technicians;
• a current asset, the current asset being an asset from which a current sample is to be obtained by a technician;
• at least one processor;
• and
• at least one memory coupled to the at least one processor, the at least one memory having stored therein instructions which when executed by any set of the at least one processor, perform a process, the process including:
• providing the technician with access to the sample collection application;
• utilizing the sample collection application to obtain, from the technician, current sample identification data identifying a current sample obtained by the technician from the current asset;
• utilizing the sample collection application to obtain, from the technician, current asset identification data identifying the current asset associated with the current sample;
• utilizing the sample collection application to obtain known asset data from the known asset database wherein the known asset data includes data associated with the current asset identified by the current asset identification data;
• correlating the current sample identification data with the known asset data associated with the current asset;
• utilizing the sample collection application to obtain test request data, the test request data representing requests for one or more tests to be run on the current sample;
• correlating the current sample identification data and the known asset data associated with the current asset with the test request data;
• performing the one or more tests on the current sample;
• and
• providing test results data representing the results of the one or more tests run on the current sample.

A computing system implemented method comprising:

• storing known asset data in a known asset database;
• providing a technician with a sample collection application;
• obtaining, from the technician, current sample data representing data associated with a current sample obtained by the technician from a current asset;
• obtaining, from the technician, current asset data representing the current asset associated with the current sample;
• utilizing the sample collection application to obtain known asset data from the known asset database wherein the known asset data includes data associated with the current asset;
• obtaining test request data representing requests for one or more tests to be run on the current sample;
• correlating the current sample data and the current asset data with the test request data;
• and
• performing the one or more tests on the current sample.
