System and Method for Consumerizing Cloud Computing

A computer-implemented method for cloud computing, the computer-implemented method comprising:

• managing an end user request from an end user device to perform a computational job via cloud computing, the managing including:
• (i) selecting a consumer device to perform at least a portion of the computational job, the consumer device selected, at least in part, based on at least one characteristic of the consumer device and proximity of the consumer device to the end user device, and
• (ii) assigning the at least a portion of the computational job to the consumer device selected by transmitting a job request to perform the at least a portion of the computational job, the job request transmitted to the consumer device selected.

A non-transitory computer-readable medium having encoded thereon a sequence of instructions which, when loaded and executed by at least one processor, causes the at least one processor to:

• manage an end user request, from an end user device to perform a computational job via cloud computing, by:
• (i) selecting a consumer device to perform at least a portion of the computational job, the consumer device selected, at least in part, based on at least one characteristic of the consumer device and proximity of the consumer device to the end user device, and
• (ii) assigning the at least a portion of the computational job to the consumer device selected by transmitting a job request to perform the at least a portion of the computational job, the job request transmitted to the consumer device selected.

A system for cloud computing, the system comprising:

• means for managing an end user request from an end user device to perform a computational job via cloud computing, the managing including:
• (i) selecting a consumer device to perform at least a portion of the computational job, the consumer device selected, at least in part, based on at least one characteristic of the consumer device and proximity of the consumer device to the end user device, and
• (ii) assigning the at least a portion of the computational job to the consumer device selected by transmitting a job request to perform the at least a portion of the computational job, the job request transmitted to the consumer device selected.

A system comprising:

• a job manager configured to manage an end user request to perform a computational job, the end user request received from an end user device, the job manager further configured to manage the end user request by:
• (i) selecting a consumer device to perform at least a portion of the computational job, the consumer device selected, at least in part, based on at least one characteristic of the consumer device and proximity of the consumer device to the end user device, and
• (ii) assigning the at least a portion of the computational job to the consumer device selected by transmitting a job request to perform the at least a portion of the computational job, the job request transmitted to the consumer device selected.
