Abstract
An implantable device for detecting an antenna misalignment with respect to a transmitting implantable device in a near field communication system comprises an antenna unit configured to receive signals through a body channel from the transmitting implantable device. The antenna unit comprises at least two pairs of electrodes configured to cover a blind angle of a radiation pattern of the transmitting implantable device. The implantable device further comprises a processing unit electrically coupled to the antenna unit and configured to detect the antenna misalignment of the at least two pairs of electrodes with respect to the transmitting implantable device.
Claims20
An implantable device for detecting an antenna misalignment with respect to a transmitting in device in a near field communication system, the implantable device comprising:
- an antenna unit configured to receive signals through a body channel from the transmitting implantable device, wherein the antenna unit comprises at least two pairs of electrodes configured to cover a blind angle of a radiation pattern of the transmitting implantable device;
- and
- a processing unit electrically coupled to the antenna unit and configured to detect the antenna misalignment of the at least two pairs of electrodes with respect to the transmitting implantable device.
A method for detecting an antenna misalignment with respect to a transmitting implantable device in a near field communication system, the method comprising:
- positioning at least two pairs of electrodes to receive signals through a body channel from the transmitting implantable device, wherein the at least two pairs of electrodes are positioned in a way to cover a blind angle of a radiation pattern of the transmitting implantable device;
- measuring, by a processing unit, at least one parameter of the received signals;
- determining a difference between the measured parameter and a reference value;
- determining whether the difference is above a threshold value;
- and
- detecting, by the processing unit, the antenna misalignment of the at least two pairs of electrodes with respect to the transmitting implantable device when the difference is above the threshold value.
