A polymeric film includes a substrate at least partially coated with hydrophobic particles, the hydrophobic particles include: a metal oxide core; and a hydrocarbon chain having from 2 to 40 carbon atoms, wherein the hydrocarbon chain is chemically bound to the metal oxide core

A polymeric film comprising a substrate at least partially coated with hydrophobic particles, the hydrophobic particles comprising:
- an aluminium oxide core;
- and
- a hydrocarbon chain having from 2 to 40 carbon atoms,
- wherein the hydrocarbon chain is chemically bound to the aluminium oxide core, the hydrophobic particles and the substrate are secured to one another by an adhesive and wherein the mass ratio of the hydrophobic particles and the adhesive is from approximately 1.0:1.0 to approximately 2.0:1.0.
