A method for treating a subject having a disease or condition, comprising:
- determining a decreased expression level of PKCζ and PKCλ/ι in a biological sample obtained from the subject compared to an expression level of PKCζ and PKCλ/ι in an individual who does not have the disease or condition;
- and
- administering to the subject a therapeutically effective amount of a programmed death-ligand 1 (PD-L1) inhibitor.
A method for determining a likelihood of a colorectal cancer (CRC) subtype in a subject in need thereof, the method comprising:
- obtaining a biological sample from the subject in need thereof;
- assaying the biological sample to determine an expression level of PKCζ and PKCλ/ι to produce a decreased expression level of PKCζ and PKCλ/ι compared to an expression level of PKCζ and PKCλ/ι in an individual that does not have the CRC subtype, wherein the CRC subtype is serrated CRC;
- based at least on the decreased expression level of PKCζ and PKCλ/ι, determining the likelihood of the serrated CRC in the subject;
- and
- administering to the subject a therapeutically effective amount of a programmed death-ligand 1 (PD-L1) inhibitor.
A method for determining a risk of a serrated colorectal cancer (CRC) in a subject having inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), the method comprising:
- obtaining a biological sample from the subject;
- assaying the biological sample to determine an expression level of PKCζ and PKCλ/ι to produce a decreased expression level of PKCζ and PKCλ/ι, compared to an expression level of PKCζ and PKCλ/ι in an individual that does not have the serrated CRC;
- based at least on the decreased expression level of PKCζ and PKCλ/ι, determining the likelihood of the serrated CRC in the subject;
- and
- administering to the subject a therapeutically effective amount of a programmed death-ligand 1 (PD-L1) inhibitor.
