Abstract
A driving assistance device calculates the field of view of a driver based on an output signal of a camera that captures an image of the driver. The driving assistance device calculates a monitoring required region that requires monitoring when driving the vehicle based on information of the periphery of the vehicle. The driving assistance device determines whether the field of view calculated in the field of view calculation process encompasses the monitoring required region. When determined that the calculated field of view does not encompass the monitoring required region, the driving assistance operates predetermined hardware device to cope with the situation.
Claims10
A driving assistance device, comprising:
- circuitry configured to execute:
- a field of view calculation process for calculating a field of view of a driver based on an output signal of a camera that captures an image of the driver;
- a region calculation process for calculating a monitoring required region that requires monitoring when driving the vehicle based on information of a periphery of the vehicle;
- a determination process for determining whether the field of view calculated in the field of view calculation process encompasses the monitoring required region;
- and
- a responding process for operating predetermined hardware when determined that the calculated field of view does not encompass the monitoring required region to cope with a situation where the calculated field of view does not encompass the monitoring required region.
A method for assisting driving, comprising:
- calculating a field of view of a driver based on an output signal of a camera that captures an image of the driver;
- calculating a monitoring required region that requires monitoring when driving the vehicle based on information of a periphery of the vehicle;
- determining whether the field of view calculated in the field of view calculation process encompasses the monitoring required region;
- and
- operating predetermined hardware when determined that the calculated field of view does not encompass the monitoring required region to cope with a situation where the calculated field of view does not encompass the monitoring required region.
