Method for repairing composite components using a support member

A method for repairing a composite turbomachine component, the method comprising:

• preparing a repair interface of a composite turbomachine component by removing worn or damaged composite material;
• positioning one or more repair fiber plies at the repair interface in a transverse orientation relative to original fiber plies forming the composite turbomachine component such that a butt joint is formed at the repair interface between the one or more repair fiber plies and the composite turbomachine component;
• forming a cavity within the composite turbomachine component such that the cavity extends through the repair interface;
• and
• installing a support member within the cavity,
• wherein the support member extends across the butt joint such that a first portion of the support member is positioned within the composite turbomachine component and a second portion of the support member is positioned within the one or more repair fiber plies.
