Brewing device for producing a beverage from a single-serve capsule

A brewing device for producing a beverage from a single-serve pod;

• wherein the single-serve pod includes a casing formed of two sheets of plastic and/or aluminium and/or paper mutually coupled to form a central body containing a brewable material, and an external annular flange extending all around, and seals, the central body;
• the brewing device comprising:
• two functional assemblies defining respective brewing half-chambers and mutually movable along a longitudinal axis between an open configuration, in which the they mutually define a space for loading a pod, and a closed configuration, in which the two brewing half-chambers mutually define a brewing chamber for the pod;
• one of said two functional assemblies is a water injection assembly and the other is a beverage extraction assembly;
• and
• a pod support device rotatably mounted about a fixed axis transverse to the longitudinal axis to move between a pod retention position, in which the pod support device is capable to receive a pod and support the pod by itself in a loading position between the two functional assemblies in said open configuration, and a disengagement position in which the pod support device is moved aside relative to the functional assemblies after having delivered the pod to the functional assemblies;
• wherein a path of the pod support device from the pod retention position to the disengagement position during the rotation about the fixed axis is so designed as to cause the pod support device to insert and leave the pod in the brewing half-chamber of one of said functional assemblies.

A brewing device for producing a beverage from a single-serve cartridge in the form of a capsule or a pod;

• the brewing device comprising:
• at least one perforating device to perforate the cartridge, the at least one perforating device including a plate and a plurality of perforators protruding from the plate;
• wherein the plate is provided with holes for the flow of a liquid, each of the plurality of perforators has a shape of a blunt tip delimited by a side surface and by a top surface forming, with the side surface, a cutting edge;
• the top surface is a result of an intersection between the relevant perforator with a virtual spherical surface, and the shape of the cutting edge is generically bilobed and formed by two convex portions separated by two symmetrical concave portions.

A brewing device for producing a beverage from a single-serve cartridge in a form of a capsule or a pod, the brewing device comprising:

• two functional assemblies defining respective brewing half-chambers and mutually movable along a longitudinal axis between an open configuration, in which the two brewing half-chambers mutually define a space for loading a cartridge, and a closed configuration, in which the two brewing half-chambers mutually define a brewing chamber for the pod;
• one of said functional assemblies is a water injection assembly and the other is a beverage extraction assembly;
• wherein at least one of the functional assemblies includes:
• a main body;
• an insert integral to the main body, coaxial to the longitudinal axis, and delimiting at least a central portion of the associated brewing half-chamber;
• and
• a pusher to push the cartridge out of the brewing half-chamber when the brewing device returns to the open configuration at the end of a beverage extraction process;
• wherein the pusher is mounted between the main body and the insert and comprises a plurality of pushing members distributed around the longitudinal axis;
• wherein the pusher is mounted to move, along the longitudinal axis, against the trust of elastic return means, from an advanced rest position, in which the pushing members protrude inside the brewing half-chamber, to a forced retracted position, in which the pushing members fail to protrude inside the brewing half-chamber;
• wherein the pushing members are crown-like arranged around the longitudinal axis so as to engage a corresponding peripheral portion of the cartridge.
