Abstract
Nail polish remover product for toe or fingernails is applied to a painted or artificial nail and left thereon for a predetermined period of time to dissolve the nail polish and/or nail bonding agent. Preferably a color change occurs to depict the appropriate dwelling time to dissolve the nail polish. Certain embodiments include odor reducing components. Preferably the product is layered and includes an exterior odor impervious material, an encapsulated acetone or nail polish removing agent, an absorbent layer, and optionally a peelable backing, with the product being sized to accommodate contact with a person's nail.

A device for use in the removal of nail polish from a person's nails comprising:
- a top layer comprising a material substantially impervious to acetone, selected from the group consisting of polyethylene, polyvinylchloride, and polytetrafluoroethylene;
- an absorbent pad located below the top layer, wherein the device holds the absorbent pad in contact with the person's nail until the nail polish removing agent dissolves the nail polish present on the person's nail,
- a frangible layer of an encapsulated nail polish removing agent, said frangible layer being located below said top layer, said nail polish removing agent comprising at least about 0.5 ml of acetone included in an encapsulated enclosure made from an acetone resistant material, the frangible layer comprising a physical pocket adapted to contain the nail polish removing agent within a frangible enclosure;
- said physical pocket being pre-associated with the absorbent pad;
- said physical pocket, when fractured, releasing the nail polish removing agent into the absorbent pad;
- wherein each of the person's nails are contacted with and covered by one of the absorbent pads, said absorbent pads being left in contact with each of the person's nails for a period of time to dissolve the nail polish thereon, and wherein the absorbent pad layer does not encompass a person's finger opposite the person's nails.
A method for removal of nail polish from a person's nails comprising:
- comprising the steps:
- a) providing device comprising:
- a top layer comprising a material substantially impervious to acetone, and able to constrain acetone, selected from the group consisting of polyethylene, polyvinylchloride, and polytetrafluoroethylene;
- a frangible layer of an encapsulated nail polish removing agent, said nail polish removing agent comprising at least about 0.5 ml of acetone included in an encapsulated enclosure made from an acetone resistant material, the frangible layer comprising a physical pocket adapted to contain the nail polish removing agent within a frangible enclosure;
- a plurality of absorbent pads, where the absorbent pads are located below the top layer, wherein the device holds the absorbent pads in contact with the person's nail until the nail polish removing agent dissolves the nail polish present on the person's nail, the physical pocket being pre-associated with the absorbent pads;
- and the physical pocket, when fractured, releasing the nail polish removing agent into the absorbent pads;
- wherein each of the person's nails are contacted with a separate one of the plurality of absorbent pads said absorbent pads adapted to contact each of the person's nails having nail polish thereon, and left in contact with the person's nails for a period of time to dissolve the nail polish thereon, wherein the person's nails are covered by the absorbent pads and the absorbent pads do not encompass a person's finger opposite the person's nails;
- b) positioning said device on the person's nails;
- c) pressing on said physical pocket to release said nail polish removing agent onto said absorbent pads;
- d) retaining said absorbent pads on the person's nails for a time period of at least 3 minutes;
- and
- e) removing said absorbent pads after at least 3 minutes.
A device for use in the removal of nail polish from a person's nails comprising:
- a plurality of individually absorbent pads in contact with a liquid impermeable material, said material being substantially impervious to acetone, wherein the liquid impermeable material is selected from the group consisting of:
- polyethylene, polypropylene, polyvinylchloride, polytetrafluoroethylene, polystyrene, and polyvinyl acetate;
- wherein each of the plurality of absorbent pads is sized to cover a nail of an individual human, selected from the group consisting of a fingernail or toenail, but that does not encompass a finger or toe opposite the person's nails;
- a liquid disposed in each of the absorbent pads, wherein the liquid comprises acetone, and
- wherein the device holds the absorbent pads in contact with the person's nail to enable nail polish present on the person's nail to be at least partially dissolved;
- wherein each of the person's nails are contacted with a separate absorbent pad that is adapted to contact each of the person's nails having nail polish thereon, and left in contact with the person's nails for a period of time to dissolve the nail polish thereon.
