Abstract
The present application provides a low-temperature process to reduce S—S and/or S—H bonds in organic compounds, including sulfur-cured elastomers, which for example, permits the de-crosslinking of the elastomer and recovery of organic polymers from inorganic constituents.
Claims41
A process for cleaving one or more S—S and/or S—H bonds in one or more organic compounds, comprising combining the one or more organic compounds with one or more hydrosilanes and a catalyst to form a reaction mixture and treating the reaction mixture under conditions to cleave one or more of the S—S and/or S—H bonds.
A process for cleaving one or more S—S and/or S—H bonds in one or more organic compounds, comprising combining the one or more organic compounds with one or more hydrosilanes to form a reaction mixture and treating the reaction mixture under conditions to cleave one or more of the S—S and/or S—H bonds.
A method for de-crosslinking one or more sulfur-crosslinked elastomers comprising combining the one or more sulfur-crosslinked elastomers with one or more hydrosilanes and a catalyst to form a reaction mixture and treating the reaction mixture under conditions to decrosslink the sulfur-crosslinked elastomers.
A method for de-crosslinking one or more sulfur-crosslinked elastomers comprising combining the one or more sulfur-crosslinked elastomers with one or more hydrosilanes to form a reaction mixture and treating the reaction mixture under conditions to decrosslink the sulfur-crosslinked elastomers.
