Abstract
An electromechanical vehicle height adjustment unit comprises a control arm, a lower spring pad operative to support a lower end of a vehicle spring, and a displacement mechanism supported on the control arm. At least a portion of the displacement mechanism is integrated into the control arm. The displacement mechanism is coupled to the lower spring pad and is operative to displace the lower spring pad relative to the control arm. The displacement mechanism comprises a rotary-to-linear motion conversion mechanism and an electric motor.
Claims19
An electromechanical vehicle height adjustment unit, comprising:
- a control arm;
- a lower spring pad operative to support a lower end of a vehicle spring;
- and
- a displacement mechanism supported on the control arm, wherein at least a portion of the displacement mechanism is integrated into the control arm, the displacement mechanism being coupled to the lower spring pad and operative to displace the lower spring pad in a height direction relative to the control arm, the displacement mechanism comprising:
- a rotary-to-linear motion conversion mechanism, comprising a first member that is rotatably mounted and a second member that is mounted so as to be displaceable in a translatory manner;
- and
- an electric motor coupled to the rotary-to-linear motion conversion mechanism to drive the first member to displace the lower spring pad along the first member.
A method of performing a vehicle height adjustment operation using an electromechanical vehicle height adjustment unit, wherein the electromechanical vehicle height adjustment unit comprises a control arm, a lower spring pad supporting a lower end of a vehicle spring , and a displacement mechanism supported on the control arm , wherein at least a portion of the displacement mechanism is integrated into the control arm, the displacement mechanism being coupled to the lower spring pad and operative to displace the lower spring pad in a height direction relative to the control arm , wherein the displacement mechanism comprises an electric motor and a rotary-to-linear motion conversion mechanism, wherein the rotary-to-linear motion conversion mechanism comprises a first member that is rotatably mounted and a second member that is mounted so as to be displaceable in a translatory manner, the method comprising:
- powering the electric motor to drive the first member of the rotary-to-linear motion conversion mechanism to displace the lower spring pad along the first member.
