Abstract
A method for preparing a partially fluorinated alcohol, comprises reacting an epoxide: wherein R1, R2, R3 and R4 are independently selected from the group comprising H, F, Cl, Br, I, CF3, alkyl, fluoroalkyl, haloalkyl with a fluorinating agent.

A method for preparing a partially fluorinated alcohol, comprising reacting an epoxide:
- wherein R1, R2, R3 and R4 are independently selected from the group consisting of H, F, Cl, Br, I, CF3, alkyl, fluoroalkyl, and haloalkyl;
- with a fluorinating agent.
Compounds with either of the following structures
- wherein R1, R2, R3 and R4 are independently selected from the group consisting of H, F, Cl, Br, I, CF3, alkyl, fluoroalkyl, and haloalkyl, with the provision that the compound is not 1,1,1,3-tetrafluoropropan-2-ol.
A method for preparing a partially fluorinated carbonate ester with the structure
- comprising reacting a fluorohydrin with having either of the following structure
- wherein R1, R2, R3 and R4 are independently selected from the group consisting of H, F, Cl, Br, I, CF3, alkyl, fluoroalkyl, and haloalkyl;
- with COX2, wherein X is selected from the group fluorohydrin —F, —Cl, —OCH3, —OCCl3, imidazole, and succinimidyl.
A compound with the structure
- wherein R1, R2, R3 and R4 are independently selected from the group consisting of H, F, Cl, Br, I, CF3, alkyl, fluoroalkyl, and haloalkyl.
A method for preparing a fluorinated compound, comprising reacting a compound having either of the following structures:
- wherein at least 2 of R1 to R4 independently comprise H, Cl, Br, or I;
- with a fluorinating agent.
A method for preparing a partially fluorinated epoxide, comprising reacting a partially fluorinated alkene:
- wherein R1, R2, R3 and R4 are independently selected from the group consisting of H, F, Cl, Br, I, CF3, alkyl, fluoroalkyl, and haloalkyl;
- with an oxidising agent.
