Abstract
A location of a computing device may be determined by determining the range of a communication. Several different wireless communication protocols and/or wireless networks (e.g., Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, Cellular, and/or GPS) may be used to determine the user's location. When the user's location is determined, one or more actions (e.g., granting access to content) may be performed based on the user's location.
Claims20
A method comprising:
- determining a first signal strength of a first wireless transmission between a first user device and a first locating device;
- determining a second signal strength of a second wireless transmission between the first user device and a second locating device;
- determining a location of the first user device by comparing the first signal strength and the second signal strength, wherein the location of the first user device is within a premises;
- and
- based on the determining the location of the first user device, sending, to a computing device at the premises, an instruction to cause an action corresponding to the location of the first user device.

- one or more processors;
- and
- memory storing instructions that, when executed by the one or more processors, cause the apparatus to:
- determine a first signal strength of a first wireless transmission between a first user device and a first locating device;
- determine a second signal strength of a second wireless transmission between the first user device and a second locating device;
- determine a location of the first user device by comparing the first signal strength and the second signal strength, wherein the location of the first user device is within a premises;
- and
- based on the determining the location of the first user device, cause transmission of an instruction to cause an action corresponding to the location of the first user device.
