Verifying trusted communications using established communication channels

A method comprising:

• receiving, from a host device, a request for a communication;
• based at least in part on the requested communication, causing presentation, on a client device, of an indication of the requested communication;
• receiving, from the host device, an authentication signal generated by the host device based at least in part on the requested communication;
• based at least in part on the receiving the authentication signal, generating, using a client application of the client device, a notification indicating that the requested communication is a trusted communication;
• causing presentation, using the client application and on the client device, of the notification;
• and
• accepting the requested communication from the host device based at least in part on the notification.

A system comprising:

• one or more processors;
• and
• one or more memory devices that store instructions that, when executed by the one or more processors, cause the one or more processors to execute operations comprising:
• receiving, from a host device, a communication;
• based at least in part on the communication, causing presentation, on a client device, of a first indication of the communication;
• executing a web browser application on the client device;
• accessing, using the web browser, a webpage associated with an entity that initiated the communication;
• entering, to the webpage, credentials of a user;
• based at least in part on verification of the credentials, causing presentation, on the client device, of a second indication that the communication is a trusted communication.
