Resource block determination for control channel repetitions

A method for wireless communications at a base station, comprising:

• identifying a configuration for one or more repetitions of an uplink control channel transmission to be transmitted by a user equipment (UE), the configuration indicating a first quantity of repetitions of the one or more repetitions, and each repetition of the one or more repetitions comprising a first quantity of symbols indicated by the configuration;
• determining a quantity of resource blocks for each repetition of the one or more repetitions based at least in part on the first quantity of symbols;
• identifying that a second quantity of symbols available to the UE to transmit a repetition of the one or more repetitions is less than the first quantity of symbols;
• determining, for the repetition on the second quantity of symbols, to use the quantity of resource blocks determined based at least in part on the first quantity of symbols for the repetition on the second quantity of symbols;
• and
• receiving, from the UE, the repetition on the second quantity of symbols on the quantity of resource blocks.

An apparatus for wireless communications at a user equipment (UE), comprising:

• at least one processor,
• memory coupled with the at least one processor;
• and
• instructions stored in the memory and executable by the at least one processor to cause the apparatus to:
• identify a configuration for one or more repetitions of an uplink control channel transmission, the configuration indicating a first quantity of repetitions of the one or more repetitions, and each repetition of the one or more repetitions comprising a first quantity of symbols indicated by the configuration;
• determine a quantity of resource blocks for each repetition of the one or more repetitions based at least in part on the first quantity of symbols;
• identify that a second quantity of symbols available to the UE to transmit a repetition of the one or more repetitions is less than the first quantity of symbols;
• determine, for the repetition on the second quantity of symbols, to use the quantity of resource blocks determined based at least in part on the first quantity of symbols for the repetition on the second quantity of symbols;
• and
• transmit, to a base station, the repetition on the second quantity of symbols on the quantity of resource blocks.

An apparatus for wireless communications at a base station, comprising:

• at least one processor,
• memory coupled with the at least one processor;
• and
• instructions stored in the memory and executable by the at least one processor to cause the apparatus to:
• identify a configuration for one or more repetitions of an uplink control channel transmission to be transmitted by a user equipment (UE), the configuration indicating a first quantity of repetitions of the one or more repetitions, and each repetition of the one or more repetitions comprising a first quantity of symbols indicated by the configuration;
• determine a quantity of resource blocks for each repetition of the one or more repetitions based at least in part on the first quantity of symbols;
• identify that a second quantity of symbols available to the UE to transmit a repetition of the one or more repetitions is less than the first quantity of symbols;
• determine, for the repetition on the second quantity of symbols, to use the quantity of resource blocks determined based at least in part on the first quantity of symbols for the repetition on the second quantity of symbols;
• and
• receive, from the UE, the repetition on the second quantity of symbols on the quantity of resource blocks.
