User equipment (ue) capability for transmission reception point (trp) specific beam failure recovery (bfr)

An apparatus for wireless communication, comprising:

• a memory;
• and
• one or more processors coupled to the memory, the memory and the one or more processors being configured to:
• transmit, to a network entity, an indication of one or more capabilities of a user equipment (UE) to support beam group specific beam failure recovery (BFR);
• communicate with at least two transmission reception points (TRPs) using beams associated with at least two beam groups, each of the at least two beam groups associated with one of the at least two TRPs;
• detect a beam failure in a beam group of the at least two beam groups;
• and
• participate in the beam group specific BFR, in accordance with the indicated one or more capabilities of the UE.

An apparatus for wireless communication, comprising:

• a memory;
• and
• one or more processors coupled to the memory, the memory and the one or more processors being configured to:
• receive, from a user equipment (UE), an indication of one or more capabilities of the UE to support beam group specific beam failure recovery (BFR);
• and
• participate in the beam group specific BFR for the UE, in accordance with the indicated one or more capabilities of the UE.
