Beam selection in idle mode to avoid monitoring occasion collision

A user equipment (UE) for wireless communication, comprising:

• a memory;
• and
• one or more processors operatively coupled to the memory, the memory and the one or more processors configured to:
• measure a plurality of beams, from a base station, wherein the plurality of beams are associated with a corresponding plurality of monitoring occasions for a first subscription of the UE;
• determine whether a monitoring occasion for a second subscription of the UE collides with one or more of the plurality of monitoring occasions, for the first subscription of the UE, corresponding with the plurality of beams;
• and
• transmit, to the base station, an indication of a selected beam, from the plurality of beams, based at least in part on the measuring and the determining.

A base station for wireless communication, comprising:

• a memory;
• and
• one or more processors operatively coupled to the memory, the memory and the one or more processors configured to:
• transmit using a plurality of beams, wherein the plurality of beams are associated with a corresponding plurality of monitoring occasions for a user equipment (UE);
• and
• receive, from the UE, an indication of a selected beam, from the plurality of beams, based at least in part on the monitoring occasion corresponding to the selected beam.
