Abstract
A method and system are for analyzing a plurality of interconnected blood vessels, preferably for providing output data for the analysis of a plurality of interconnected blood vessels, e.g. for vessel segmentation, vessel labeling, and vessel occlusion detection. The output data include a graphical representation of a vessel tree model of a patient. The method of an embodiment, in the most general terms includes receiving input data, e.g. via an interface; generating output data by applying algorithmic operations to the input data; and providing the output data, e.g. via an interface.
Claims24
A method for analyzing a plurality of interconnected blood vessels, comprising:
- receiving a medical image data set, the medical imaging dataset including image data of a region of an anatomy of a patient including a plurality of interconnected blood vessels, wherein the plurality of interconnected blood vessels are labelled with a contrast agent;
- registering tissue structure surrounding the plurality of interconnected blood vessels in the medical image data set with a tissue atlas;
- deriving, from the registering, a transformation field;
- applying the transformation field to register the plurality of interconnected blood vessels with a vessel atlas to obtain a plurality of segmented blood vessels and generating a vessel tree model from the plurality of segmented blood vessels using prior anatomical knowledge, wherein the vessel tree model is a graph model including nodes and edges;
- and
- outputting a graphical representation of the vessel tree model.
A system for analyzing a plurality of interconnected blood vessels, comprising:
- a first interface to receive a medical image data set, the medical imaging dataset including image data of a region of an anatomy of a patient including a plurality of interconnected blood vessels, the plurality of interconnected blood vessels being labelled with a contrast agent;
- an image registration unit to register tissue structure surrounding the plurality of interconnected blood vessels in the medical image data set with a tissue atlas;
- a first calculation unit to derive a transformation field from registration of the tissue structure;
- a second calculation unit to apply the transformation field to register the plurality of interconnected blood vessels with a vessel atlas to obtain a plurality of segmented blood vessels and to generate a vessel tree model from the plurality of segmented blood vessels using prior anatomical knowledge, wherein the vessel tree model is a graph model including nodes and edges;
- and
- a second interface to output a graphical representation of the vessel tree model.
A system for analyzing a plurality of interconnected blood vessels, comprising:
- at least one interface to receive a medical image data set, the medical imaging dataset including image data of a region of an anatomy of a patient including a plurality of interconnected blood vessels, the plurality of interconnected blood vessels being labelled with a contrast agent;
- and
- at least one processor to
- register tissue structure surrounding the plurality of interconnected blood vessels in the medical image data set with a tissue atlas,
- derive a transformation field from registration of the tissue structure,
- apply the transformation field to register the plurality of interconnected blood vessels with a vessel atlas to obtain a plurality of segmented blood vessels and to generate a vessel tree model from the plurality of segmented blood vessels using prior anatomical knowledge, wherein the vessel tree model is a graph model including nodes and edges;
- the at least one interface being further configured to output a graphical representation of the vessel tree model.
