Stocktaking system, data processing device, and control method

A store server for tracking commodity inventory at a store, the store server comprising:

• a processor;
• a data storage unit;
• and
• a communication interface configured to communicate with a customer terminal running a shopping support application, wherein
• the processor is configured to:
• receive, via the communication interface, a stocktaking request from the shopping support application,
• transmit a stocktaking location via the communication interface to the customer terminal in response to the stocktaking request,
• receive, via the communication interface, a data input from the shopping support application indicating the total number of a commodity at the stocktaking location, and
• update a current stock number stored in the data storage unit for the commodity at the stocktaking location based on the received data input.

A non-transitory computer-readable storage medium storing program instructions which when executed by a processor of a store server causes the store server to perform a method comprising:

• receive, via a communication interface, a stocktaking request from a shopping support application running on a customer terminal;
• transmit a stocktaking location via the communication interface to the customer terminal in response to the stocktaking request;
• receive, via the communication interface, a data input from the shopping support application indicating the total number of a commodity at the stocktaking location;
• and
• update a current stock number stored in a data storage device for the commodity at the stocktaking location based on the received data input.
