Read only memory (rom)-emulated memory (rem) profile mode of memory device

A programmable memory device comprising:

• a read only memory (ROM) block to store instructions associated with functionality of the programmable memory device;
• a memory array comprising a set of reserved pages to store updates to be performed on the ROM block;
• and
• a controller coupled to the ROM block and the memory array, wherein upon power up of the programmable memory device, the controller is to execute the instructions to perform operations comprising:
• executing a read page command to read ROM-emulated memory (REM) data from a REM-profiled page of the set of reserved pages;
• and
• loading the REM data from the REM-profiled page stored in the set of reserved pages into a latches buffer to be executed as a modification to operation of the instructions stored in the ROM.

A method comprising:

• operating a programmable memory device comprising a read only memory (ROM) block to store instructions associated with functionality of the programmable memory device, a memory array including a set of reserved pages to store updates to be performed on the ROM block, and a controller, and wherein operating the programmable memory device comprises, in response to receipt of a remote command from a vendor server via a host system:
• executing, by the controller, a set features command to access the set of reserved pages, as an extension to one time programmable (OTP) mode;
• writing, by the controller, a set of sub-feature parameters to a specified feature address of the set of reserved pages, wherein the set of sub-feature parameters are to trigger operation within a ROM-emulated memory (REM) profile mode;
• and
• programming, by the controller, a REM-profiled page of the set of reserved pages with one of REM data or REM code received from the vendor server via the host system.
