Abstract
A mixture curable in the presence of a metallic catalyst to provide a material for thermally insulating a substrate useable subsea. The mixture comprises from 55 to 99% by weight of a norbornene monomer and a water insoluble polymer filler. The water insoluble polymer filler comprises polystyrene or polypropylene, or derivatives thereof.
Claims19
A mixture curable in the presence of a metallic catalyst to provide a material for thermally insulating a substrate useable subsea, wherein the mixture comprises from 55 to 99% by weight of a norbornene monomer and a water insoluble polymer filler, wherein the water insoluble polymer filler comprises polystyrene or polypropylene, or derivatives thereof.
(canceled)
A material for thermally insulating a substrate useable subsea, wherein the material is the cured reaction product of a mixture comprising from 55 to 99% by weight of a norbornene monomer and a water insoluble polymer filler, wherein the water insoluble polymer filler comprises polystyrene or polypropylene, or derivatives thereof.
A method, wherein the method comprises:
- mixing from 55 to 99% by weight of a norbornene monomer and a water insoluble polymer filler, wherein the water insoluble polymer filler comprises polystyrene or polypropylene, or derivatives thereof;
- allowing the mixture to cure in the presence of a metallic catalyst to provide a material for thermally insulating a substrate useable subsea.
