Water sterilization cap with removable particulate filter and/or hydration meter

A water sanitization cap for covering a bottle, the cap comprising:

• (a) a barrel including an outer surface having a barrel threaded section;
• (b) a shell surrounding at least a portion of the barrel and including a handle;
• (c) a waterproof compartment formed within an interior of the barrel, wherein the waterproof compartment includes
• (i) one wall formed at least in part from a transparent material;
• (ii) one or more light emitting diodes (“LEDS”), wherein the LEDS are positioned proximate to one end of the barrel within the waterproof compartment and oriented to shine light through the transparent material;
• (iii) an activation button configured to be activated by a user to supply power to the LEDS thereby illuminating the LEDS;
• (iii) a sensor configured to be activated when the cap is in an installed position and allow a voltage to be applied to the activation button and disallow voltage to be applied to the activation button in an uninstalled position;
• and
• (v) a filter cage operable to contain a filter, wherein the filter cage includes a filter cage threaded section, the filter cage threaded section is configured to screw into the barrel threaded section.

A water sanitization assembly comprising:

• (a) a bottle including a sensed element positioned in a top portion of the bottle;
• (b) a cap configured to be removably fastened to the bottle including:
• (i) a barrel;
• (ii) a shell, the shell surrounding at least a portion of the barrel, the shell comprising an outer surface and an inner surface, the inner surface comprising a shell threaded section;
• (iii) a waterproof compartment formed within an interior of the barrel, wherein the waterproof compartment includes:
• (A) a wall formed at least in part from a transparent material;
• (B) one or more light emitting diodes (“LEDS”), wherein the LEDS are fixed within the waterproof compartment and are proximate to one end of the barrel;
• and oriented to shine light through the transparent material;
• (C) a sensor configured to sense that the sensor is proximate to the sensed element in an installed position and supplies a voltage to an internal wiring of the sensor;
• and
• (D) a filter cage operable to contain a filter, the filter cage comprising a filter cage threaded section, the filter cage threaded section for screwing into the shell threaded section on the inner surface of the shell, the fitter cage threaded section and the shell threaded section being complimentary to one another.
