Abstract
A method may include controlling, by a computing device, an energy source to form a melt pool at a build surface; and controlling, by the computing device, a material delivery device to direct a powder at the melt pool to form the seal fin comprising a metal matrix composite on the build surface, wherein the metal matrix composite comprises a matrix material and a reinforcement phase.
Claims18
A method for forming a seal fin, the method comprising:
- controlling, by a computing device, an energy delivery device to form a melt pool at a build surface;
- and
- controlling, by the computing device, a material delivery device to direct a powder at the melt pool to form the seal fin comprising a metal matrix composite on the build surface, wherein the metal matrix composite comprises a matrix material and a reinforcement phase.
A directed energy deposition material addition (DED MA) system comprising:
- a material delivery device;
- an energy delivery device;
- a computing device configured to:
- control the energy delivery device to form a melt pool at a build surface;
- and
- control the material delivery device to direct a powder at the melt pool to form a seal fin comprising a metal matrix composite on the build surface, wherein the metal matrix composite comprises a matrix material and a reinforcement phase.
A computer-readable storage medium comprising instructions that, when executed, cause at least one processor to
- control an energy delivery device to form a melt pool at a build surface;
- and
- control a material delivery device to direct a powder at the melt pool to form a seal fin comprising a metal matrix composite on the build surface, wherein the metal matrix composite comprises a matrix material and a reinforcement phase
