Abstract
A three-way catalyst article, and its use in an exhaust system for internal combustion engines, is disclosed. The catalyst article for treating exhaust gas comprising: a substrate comprising an inlet end and an outlet end with an axial length L; a first catalytic region comprising a first palladium (Pd) component and a first Pd support material, wherein the substrate is substantially free of the first Pd component.
Claims20
A catalytic article for treating exhaust gas comprising:
- a substrate comprising an inlet end and an outlet end with an axial length L;
- a first catalytic region comprising a first palladium (Pd) component and a first Pd support material, wherein the substrate is substantially free of the first Pd component.
A method of making a catalytic article for treating exhaust gas comprising:
- a) dissolving a platinum group metal (PGM) complex having a ligand coordinated to the PGM ion;
- b) making a PGM complex support slurry;
- c) mixing the dissolved PGM complex in a) with the slurry in b);
- d) coating the mixture in c) onto a substrate to form a first catalytic region on the substrate;
- wherein the ligand is selected from the group consisting of glyoxime;
- a glyoxime derivative;
- salicylaldimine, and a salicylaldimine derivative.
A method of manufacturing a catalyst article, the method comprising:
- providing a slurry comprising ions of at least one platinum group metal (PGM), a support material and a ligand for coordinating to the ions of at least one PGM;
- disposing the slurry on a substrate;
- and
- heating the slurry to form nanoparticles of the PGM on the support material;
- wherein the ligand is selected from the group consisting of glyoxime, a glyoxime derivative, salicylaldimine, and a salicylaldimine derivative.
