Abstract
Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described that support techniques for handover in non-terrestrial networks. The described techniques provide for handovers such that a user equipment (UE) may be provided information prior to handover to facilitate rapid handover and rapid recover if handover fails. The information is based on predicted handovers due to motion of non-terestrial network devices (e.g, satellites).
Claims29
A method for wireless communications, comprising:
- communicating in a first beam supported by a non-terrestrial communication network;
- receiving information related to a second beam supported by the non-terrestrial network;
- receiving an indication to transition to the second beam;
- and
- transitioning from communicating using the first beam to communicating using the second beam based at least in part on the received information and received indication.
Apparatus for wireless communications, comprising:
- a transceiver for communicating over a non-terrestrial communication network using first and second beams;
- and
- a processor coupled to the transceiver configured to
- receive information related to the second beam;
- receive an indication to transition to the second beam;
- and
- cause the transceiver to transition from communicating using the first beam to communicating using the second beam based at least in part on the received information and received indication.
Apparatus for wireless communication comprising:
- a transceiver;
- a memory;
- and
- processing means configured to:
- communicate in a first beam supported by a non-terrestrial communication network;
- receive information related to a second beam supported by the non-terrestrial network;
- receive an indication to transition to the second beam;
- and
- transition from communicating using the first beam to communicating using the second beam based at least in part on the received information and received indication.
A computer readable media comprising instructions which when executed by a processor in a wireless device cause the device to :
- communicate in a first beam supported by a non-terrestrial communication network;
- receive information related to a second beam supported by the non-terrestrial network;
- receive an indication to transition to the second beam;
- and
- transition from communicating using the first beam to communicating using the second beam based at least in part on the received information and received indication.
