Abstract
In one embodiment, a head end is connected to a plurality of customer devices through a transmission network includes a remote fiber node that converts received data to analog data suitable to be provided on a coaxial cable for the plurality of customer devices. The head end includes vCore instantiated on one of the servers of the head end configured to provide services to the plurality of customer devices through the transmission network.
Claims20
A packaging system for deploying computer software, said computer software comprising non-transitory computer readable storage medium having program instructions embodied therein, comprising:
- (a) an archive file containing a plurality of software programs each of which has an associated version;
- (b) said archive file containing a metadata document identifying each of said software programs together with said associated version for each of said software programs;
- (c) an extraction process that examines said archive file based upon said metadata document to determine that a plurality of said software programs having said associated version are available within (i) said archive file, (ii) a network based delivery service, and (iii) at a destination computing environment where said archive file is extractable by said packaging system;
- (d) said extraction process determines whether said destination computing environment is suitable for extraction of said archive file;
- (e) said metadata document defines installation dependencies between a plurality of said software programs.
A lifecycle management system for configuring and deploying computer software on a server having a processor, said computer software comprising non-transitory computer readable storage medium having program instructions embodied therein, comprising:
- (a) a configuration service that receives a deployment request for a container for a vCore instance;
- (b) a deployment service that receives a deployment request from said configuration service to create said container for said vCore instance where said deployment service queries available vCore hosts to determine which of said available vCore hosts is suitable to deploy said container for said vCore instance, where each of said available vCore hosts share a common network edge;
- (c) a container orchestrator that receives a request from said deployment service to said create said container for said vCore instance and creates a container on said suitable available vCore host.

A cable distribution system comprising:
- (a) a head end connected to a plurality of customer devices through a transmission network that includes a remote fiber node that converts received data to analog data suitable to be provided on a coaxial cable for said plurality of customer devices, where said head end includes at least one server each of which includes a respective processor;
- (b) a first vCore instantiated on one of said servers of said head end configured to provide services to said plurality of customer devices through said transmission network;
- (c) said first vCore including a first vCore routing table that is modified to include a first host route in response to a DHCP request from one of said plurality of customer devices to a DHCP server, where said first host route defines a host route between a leaf switch associated with said first vCore and said one of said customer devices;
- (d) said first vCore advertises said first host route to said leaf switch.
