Abstract
An information processing apparatus includes a controller. The controller is configured to cause power from a battery of a plurality of batteries to be supplied to a component device. The controller is also configured to control a battery selector to switch which battery of the plurality of batteries is connected to the component device based on a status of the present battery connected to the component device. For example, the status of the battery may be a voltage level or a remaining charge level.

An information processing apparatus, comprising:
- a controller configured to:
- cause power from a battery of a plurality of batteries to be supplied to a component device;
- and
- control a battery selector to switch which battery of the plurality of batteries is connected to the component device based on a status of the present battery connected to the component device.
A merchandise sales data processing apparatus, comprising:
- a controller configured to:
- cause power from a battery of a plurality of batteries to be supplied to a component device;
- control a battery selector to switch which battery of the plurality of batteries is connected to the component device based on a status of the present battery connected to the component device;
- and
- perform a merchandise registration process based on inputs from the component device.
A cart-based point-of-sale terminal, comprising:
- a shopping cart;
- a power supply unit including a plurality of batteries mounted on the shopping cart;
- an information processing apparatus mounted on the shopping cart and connected to the power supply unit, the information processing apparatus including a controller;
- a plurality of component devices on the shopping cart and connected to the information processing apparatus, the plurality of component devices including:
- a display screen configured to display information to a user of the shopping cart,
- a merchandise scanner configured to acquire information from merchandise to be purchased by the user, and
- a touch panel integrated with the display screen and configured to receive input operations from the user;
- and
- a battery selector connected to the plurality of batteries, wherein
- the controller is configured to:
- cause power from a battery of the plurality of batteries to be supplied to one of the plurality of component devices;
- and
- control the battery selector to switch which battery of the plurality of batteries is connected to the one of the component devices based on a status of the present battery connected to the one of the component devices.
