Abstract
There is provided a device and a method for monitoring a status of a cable barrier for a thoroughfare, the cable barrier including two or more cables, the device comprising a strain gauge adapted to detect a tension required to keep a pair of cables from the two or more cables deflected by the device; and an accelerometer adapted to detect vibration of the cable barrier, wherein the device is configured to monitor the status of the cable barrier based on the detected tension and the detected vibration.

A device for monitoring a status of a cable barrier for a thoroughfare, the cable barrier including two or more cables, the device comprising:
- a strain gauge adapted to detect a tension required to keep a pair of cables from the two or more cables deflected by the device;
- and
- an accelerometer adapted to detect vibration of the cable barrier, wherein the device is configured to monitor the status of the cable barrier based on the detected tension and the detected vibration.
A method of monitoring a status of a cable barrier for a thoroughfare, the cable barrier including two or more cables, the method comprising:
- detecting, using a strain gauge, a tension required to keep a pair of cables from the two or more cables deflected;
- detecting, using an accelerometer, a vibration of the cable barrier;
- and
- monitoring the status of the cable barrier based on the detected tension and the detected vibration.
