Abstract
An enhanced wood product includes a wooden board or plank having a length and at least three sides, the sides defining a polygonal cross section along the length of the wooden board or plank. A polyurethane-urea coating on at least two of the sides very substantially increases the strength of the wood product and various products made with coated wood.

An improved wood product comprising
- a wooden board or plank having a length and at least three sides, the sides defining a polygonal cross section along the length of the wooden board or plank, and
- a polyurethane-urea coating on at least two of the sides.
A roof truss comprising
- wooden chords including a bottom chord, webs, and top chords, wherein the bottom chord has a top face and a bottom face, top face and bottom face having a polyurethane-urea coating.
A method of increasing the strength of a wood product comprising
- providing a wooden board or plank having at least three sides,
- coating a polyurethane-urea coating on at least two of the sides of the wooden board or plank.
A coated wood product comprising a wooden core and a polyurethane-urea coating completely surrounding the core, the coated wood product increasing in weight by less than 1% after complete submersion in water for 48 hours.
A lumber stack comprising alternating layers of dimensional lumber and sticks, at least some of the sticks comprising a wooden core and a polyurethane-urea coating completely surrounding the core.
A shipping pallet comprising
- top and bottom layers of deck boards and blocks/runners between the layers of deck boards, the deck boards joined to the blocks/runners by brads or nails, and
- a coating of polyurethane-urea entirely coating the top and bottom layers of deck boards and the brads and nails.
A railroad tie for a railroad installation of conventional engineering comprising:
- a wood core having a length and width about the same as a tie that would be used in the railroad installation of conventional engineering and a thickness of about one-half the thickness of a tie that would be used in the railroad installation of conventional engineering, and
- a polyurethane-urea coating surrounding the wood core.
An improved wood product comprising a wood core made up of cross laminated timbers, and polyurethane-urea coating on the wood core.
